Gord, Glen, Erin and family. Although we can not be there with you today for the celebration of Illa’s life, our thoughts are with you all. Illa was a fantastic lady who we enjoyed very much getting to know over the years.

Last summer Illa and yourself were gracious to let us into your very home and tape the incredible story of A SPECIAL LADY. The story of Gordon and Illa Rumpel and the amazing connection to the horse A Special Lady touched people across North America. Your story and love for horse racing truly inspired people all across North America and was the receipt of the prestigious USTA Hervey Award for roadcasting in all of North America.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you and again I would like to thank you for being such great ambassadors of Alberta horse racing for many decades..

My heart felt condolence to the Rumpel family. I was around in the early years of her harness racing career Duster, Brett, Willow and the beginning of the great days ahead with Road. Years later when they visited PEI, Mrs. Rumpel knew me by name right off. Mrs. Rumple was a first class lady in every way class was meant to be.

My thoughts are with the family on the passing of Illa, although she is in a more comfortable state now, it is always tough to accept. Anytime I talked to Illa she was always consistent in the fact of how much she loved her horses and horse racing.

So sorry to hear of the passing of Mrs. Rumpel. Just wanted you to know our thoughts and prayers are with you at this very sad time.
