Obituary of Theresa Olmstead

OLMSTEAD – Theresa Marie (nee Laurendeau) 1915 – 2006 Theresa Olmstead, beloved wife of Glen, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, after a short illness at the age of 90 years. Theresa was born, raised, and lived in Calgary all her life. She was a member of the Catholic Women’s League since 1949 and spent over 50 years with the St. Pius X Church’s CWL and St. Rita’s Group. Theresa was actively involved in Girl Guides as both a Brownie, Girl Guide leader and District Girl Guide Commissioner. She was a special person to all those who knew her and “Grandma”to the young and not so young alike. She touched them with her love and compassion. Theresa loved life, traveling, sewing, painting, crafts and being with family and friends. Theresa is survived by Glen, her loving and devoted husband of 64 years. She will be greatly missed by her children, Leigh, Sharon (Steve), Brian (Sheryl), Kevin (Nancy), Kathy (Ken); grandchildren, Jason and Corey, Deanne (Ken), Shelley (Pat) and Sean, Chris and Dave (Natasha), Allison and Erica, Christopher and Kelly; great grandchildren, Amanda and Eric, Taylor and Mason, Stephanie and Ryan. Theresa also leaves behind her sister, Marguerite Christensen and many nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Wednesday, February 1, 2006 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Pius X Catholic Church (2424 – 24th Avenue N.W.) on Thursday, February 2, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. Family Graveside Service to follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery.
