March 20, 2020 – Calgary, Alberta

Larry Brittain, beloved husband of Barbara (nee Moore) of Calgary, AB, passed away on Friday, March 20, 2020 at the age of 78 years.

Larry began his career in the Canadian oilfield as a very young man. He was the youngest toolpush Nabors Drilling had. His passion was to drill record wells with no loss time occurrences. His favorite saying was “Blood is thicker than water”. He will be most remembered for his courage and stamina travelling to undesirable locations and dangerous situations, often during much political unrest, but he always came home safe. He will also be remembered for the love and pride he had for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Besides his loving wife Barbara, Larry is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl and Todd Hurtak, of Okotoks, AB; sons and daughters-in-law, Wade and Bev Brittain, of Exuma, Bahamas, and Chad and Shauna Brittain, of Okotoks, AB; six grandchildren, Tiegan (Jeremy) Farewell, TJ (Kathleen) Hurtak, Justin (Cady) Brittain, Bo (Brooke) Brittain, Kallie (Fari) Rolle, and Kennedy Brittain; and great-grandchildren, Marley and Lincoln Farewell, Chase Brittain, Kari Rolle, Lucas Hurtak, and a soon to be born, little bundle of joy. He is also survived by two brothers and sisters-in-law, Gerald and Sharron Brittain, and Gale and Cheryl Brittain; and two sisters and brother-in-law, Muriel Bellamey and Verna and Stan Grabher; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Larry was predeceased by his parents, Amy Louella and Roland Alfred; brothers Alister Brittain, Ernest(Grace) Brittain, Bernard Brittain, Eldon (Noreen) Brittain, and Clarence Brittain; and nephews, Murray Brittain and Jim Brittain.
