Obituary of Elfriede Marie PRAIN
February 10, 1921 – Polshagen, Germany
March 24, 2020 – Calgary, Alberta
In loving memory of Elfriede Marie Prain (née Wasculzik) who passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 24th, 2020 at the Southwood Care Centre in Calgary, Alberta at the age of 99.
Born in East Prussia in 1921, Elfriede immigrated to Canada in 1951 where she settled in Calgary. She was an active and faithful member of her church, loved the mountains and enjoyed travelling and gardening. She was a gentle soul and known for her dry wit and sense of humour.
Predeceased by her four siblings Alfred, Günther, Irmgard and Ewald, she will be missed by her dear sister Ruth of Salt Lake City, Utah. Elfriede will also be lovingly remembered by many close friends, nieces, nephews and their extended families.
The family wish to sincerely thank Elfriede’s devoted friends Irmgard and Kurt Gyger as well as the staff at Southwood Care Centre for their compassion, empathy, dedication, professionalism and sincere friendship.
In light of the recent government directives which prohibit public gatherings, a celebration of life will be postponed until the situation surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic becomes clearer. At such point in time an announcement of a date and time will be made on the McInnis & Holloway Funeral Home website.
