Joan RICHARDS (nee McInnis)

Obituary of Joan Eileen RICHARDS (nee McInnis)

August 2, 1933 – Regina, Saskatchewan

March 29, 2020 – Calgary, Alberta

It is with great sadness that the family of Joan Richards announces her passing on Sunday, March 29, 2020.

Joan loved to laugh, have a good time with friends and family, and make the most of life. She was a feisty force of nature who spoke her mind, stood up for what she wanted and for those closest to her. She was extremely compassionate, taking it upon herself to look out for so many people in her life from family to work. Joan will be remembered for her independent spirit and her determination to make life happen.

As a working mother in the days when that was the exception, she showed her daughters that women could be strong and independent. Her granddaughters and great-granddaughters can be proud of her example.

Joan is survived by her husband of sixty-four years Clarence (Rick) Richards; her brother Dave McInnis, her daughters and sons-in-law Terri and Bob, Shelley and Sandy, Karen and Tim; her granddaughters, Megan and Peter, Courtney and Steve, Britney and Brian, Jessica and Brenham; and great-grandchildren, Clara, Rose, Brynne, Declan, Kaimbri, and Price.

A Celebration of Joan’s Life to be announced at a later date. Condolences, memories and photos may be shared and viewed on Joan’s obituary at www.McInnisandHolloway.com. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.

In living memory of Joan Richards, a tree will be planted in the Ann & Sandy Cross Conservation Area by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Chapel of the Bells, 2720 CENTRE STREET NORTH, CALGARY, AB, T2E 2V6,   Telephone: 403-243-8200.
