Obituary of Doris ERICKSON (nee Kilian)

June 19, 1935 – Rawa Ruska, Galicia, Poland
June 22, 2020 – Calgary, Alberta

It is with great sadness that we announce that on Sunday, June 22, 2020, our mom, Doris Erikson of Calgary, AB, previously of St. Albert, AB, passed away suddenly at the age of 85 years.

In 2019 Doris relocated to Calgary from St. Albert to be closer to her daughter Kathy, and had just celebrated her 85th birthday three days before her passing. Fortunately, she had the opportunity to speak with many family members and friends the week of her birthday, or as she called them, “her people,” and was looking forward to the warm weather that summer brings. Doris passed away quietly in her sleep in the early hours of the morning.

Doris leaves to mourn her daughter Kathy Cornelius (Kent), and her son Jamie Prefontaine (Veronica), her seven grandchildren, Kate, Lindsay, Jackson, Desiree, Jessica, Stephanie, and Christopher; and her ten great-grandchildren, Logan, Grace, Isabella, Landon, Cailyn, Nolan, Lucas, Lily, Alexis, and Mardel. She was predeceased by her loving partner, Ernest de Champlain in 2017, her parents, Kateryna (1985) and Andrew Kilian (1991) of St. Albert, AB; and her young grandson Tommy-Lee Prefontaine (2007.)

A Memorial Service will be held next summer 2021 at Evergreen Funeral Chapel in Edmonton, AB (16102 Fort Rd NW, Edmonton, AB), and interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Family and friends will be notified in advance. Condolences, memories and photos may be shared and viewed on Doris’ obituary at www.McInnisandHolloway.com.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Sage Hill Retirement Residence in Calgary for their wonderful care during the time our mom lived there, and for keeping all of their seniors safe and healthy during the current Covid-19 pandemic.

In living memory of Doris Erickson, a tree will be planted in the Ann & Sandy Cross Conservation Area by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Crowfoot, 82 Crowfoot Circle NW, CALGARY, AB T3G 2T3, Telephone: 403-241-0044.
