Obituary of Wayne Mitchell ROHATENSKY

August 11, 1961 – Yorkton, Saskatchewan
August 7, 2020 – Calgary, Alberta

Wayne Mitchell Rohatensky of Calgary, AB, passed away on Friday, August 7, 2020 at the age of 58 years.

Wayne was born on August 11, 1961 in Yorkton, Saskatchewan as the second of four siblings. His younger years were spent in his childhood hometown of Calder, Saskatchewan. In 1980 he moved to Calgary, Alberta and attended SAIT, becoming a Journeyman Welder. Wayne started his welding career at Burnco in the early 1980’s, but in September of 1983 he began a 35 year career with Canadian Pacific Railway. His roles with CP were numerous, but mainly involved train inspection and maintenance. Wayne obtained additional education and held the position of Health and Safety Supervisor for many years. He was an advocate for workers’ rights and supported the local CP Union. On July 27, 1991 Wayne married Cindy Oliver and had two children, who he loved and cared for deeply.

Wayne was adventurous, spontaneous, and always looking for a good time. You could find him hiking in the mountains, having beers on a patio, riding his road bike around the city, at the ballet, and cheering on his favorite sports teams, sometimes all in the same day. Wayne was a devoted, supportive father, always involving himself in the ever changing interests of his children. He was not only a father to his children, but also their best friend.

Wayne leaves behind his two children, Mitchell and Madison and their significant others Stephanie and Keaton. He also leaves behind his partner Cori Anderson, whom he spent many happy years with. He has a surviving mother Marie, sister April, and brother Greg.

Wayne was predeceased by his father William and his brother Blair.
