Obituary of Yvonne Kay POUCETTE

It is with profound sadness we announce the sudden passing of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, auntie, and sister-in-law, Yvonne Poucette, surrounded by family on Wednesday, August 12, 2020.

She was the lone survivor of Tom (Elsie) Labelle, Veteran of WWI. She had unconditional love for her children and family and was the matriarch of the Labelle family tree. Yvonne was very kind, humble, loving and was a unique person, loved and cherished by all who knew her. Yvonne’s most joyful memories were made with her husband of 62 years, David. She enjoyed watching him and her children in the sports of rodeo and hockey. In her downtime she enjoyed spending time outdoors with family, listening to country music, especially fiddle music, and enjoyed dancing the two-step. She also enjoyed making quilts. She believed in her cultural traditional values, especially kinship titles, and took part in ceremonies and Sun Dances. 

She leaves to mourn, her husband David, children, Georgina and Lionel Labelle, whom she raised,  Lorraine, Sandra, Willie (Harvine), Ulina, Curtis (Tanya), Mark, Adam (Angela), and Kyle; forty-three grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, adopted daughters, Glenna Mark, Rachel Poucette, Vina Hunter, Tammy Hunter; as well as many adopted children, many nieces and nephews, sisters-in-law, Doreen, Norma and Debbie Poucette, and Sheila Labelle; along with families from Benjamin, Beaver, BigPlume, Baptiste, Goodin, GoodStoney, Crane, Holloway, House, Labelle, Lightning, Powderface, Poucette, Rabbit, Rider, Wesley, Simon, Ear, Twoyoungmen, and Mark. We apologize if we have missed anyone.

Yvonne was predeceased by her daughter Ulina, son Delbert, parents, Tom and Elsie Labelle; siblings, Lawrence, George, and Nancy, Gordon, Jack, Johnny, Pete, and Clara; twenty-four nieces, forty nephews, ten brothers-in-law, and nine sisters-in-law.

She also has relatives from Maskwacis and Tsuu T’ina.

Wake Services will be held at the residence Yvonne and David (Morley, AB) on  Monday, August 17, and Tuesday, August 18 2020.  Funeral Services will be held at the residence of Yvonne and David (Morley, AB) on Wednesday, August 19, 2020 at 1:00 p.m.  Graveside Service to follow at Chiniki Cemetery (Morley, AB).  Condolences, memories and photos may be shared and viewed on Yvonne’s obituary at www.McInnisandHolloway.com.
