Obituary of Patricia (Pat) Marlin MORRALL (nee McGill)

September 1, 1944 – Montreal, Quebec
December 1, 2020 – Calgary, Alberta

Patricia (Pat) Marlin Morrall passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 1, 2020 at the age of 76 years after a bravely fought battle with brain cancer.

Pat, as many knew her, was born in Montreal, QC, to parents Margaret and Lindsay McGill and spent much of her childhood moving around the country given her father’s position in the Air Force.

She met her future husband John Morrall in Ottawa, and not long after they gave birth to Melinda in 1967 while he was completing his doctorate. The young family then moved from Kitchener to Calgary, AB, in 1971 along with their second child Amanda. Their son Sean Patrick (who passed away in 2016) was born in Calgary March 13, 1973.

Whilst raising a young family, Patricia went back to school and studied commerce at the University of Calgary. She went on to enjoy a successful career in the oilpatch and was a pioneer in the ‘80s given her occupation as a rare female “landman” for several companies including Mobil Oil, and later Talisman Energy.

Patricia met her second husband of thirty-four years, Ken Peterson at Mobil where they worked together. Ken passed away late last year at 88.

Patricia will be lovingly remembered by her family as a selfless, generous and kind matriarchal character who always put others first. She had a remarkable intellect, wit and humour and the capacity to remember meaningful details about others lives.

Pat is survived by her two daughters, Melinda (Duncan White), and Amanda Morrall; her four adoring grandchildren, Ethan and Emily White, and Connor and Liam Cowie. She is also survived by her older brother Douglas McGill and his wife, Debra. She was predeceased by her husband Ken and son Sean Patrick.

She will be hugely missed by her family and closest friends.

The family will be hosting a private memorial at a later date.

If friends so desire, in lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada, https://www.braintumour.ca/ways-to-give/donate-now/. Condolences, memories and photos may be shared and viewed on Pat’s obituary at www.McInnisandHolloway.com.
