Obituary of Ray Fisher

Raymer “Ray” Allen Fisher beloved husband of Patricia Fisher of Calgary, AB, passed away on Saturday, October 2, 2021 at the age of 80 years.

Raymer was born in Prince Albert, SK on September 4, 1941. Coming from a humble farming community, he began an aviation Journey in 1958 that started with RCAF at the age of 17. Shifting from military to commercial flying in 1961, Raymer’s career had him circle the globe, contributing to the aviation community on multiple continents. Settling back home in Canada in 1976, Raymer and his wife Patricia “Pat” formed a family and called Calgary, AB home. In the twilight of Raymer’s career, his hallmark achievement and point of pride was in being a founding pilot for WestJet Airlines in 1995. Retiring in 2003, Raymer became the ultimate grandpa to three grandson’s and watched with pride as they grew to be young men. Ray enjoyed chess, pool, fishing, boating, and camping.

Besides his loving wife, Raymer is survived by his daughters and son-in-law, Cindy (Paul) Medway of Gympie, Australia; son and daughters-in-law, Sean (Beth) Fisher of Calgary, AB; and three grandchildren, Matthew, Braxton and Declan Fisher also of Calgary, AB. Raymer is also survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Julie (Sam) Beasley of Ogden Utah; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Raymer was predeceased by his daughter Penelope Jenson; his parents Florence and Lawrence Fisher; and his two brothers Wayne and Earl Fisher.

Ray touched the lives of so many people in the aviation community, and his family would like to thank those within the community that have shared the news of his passing in order to be remembered by all.
