Obituary of Dwayne Joseph Dychkowski

Dwayne Dychkowski, beloved husband of Terry Dychkowski (nee Christensen), of Calgary, AB, passed away on Sunday, October 10, 2021, at the age of 63 years after a six month battle with pancreatic cancer.

 

Dwayne was born in Tofield, AB, on February 8, 1958. He graduated from the University of Alberta with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Dwayne married Terry in 1990. He was a member of The Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA). He was employed with TransAlta from 1980 – 2009, Maxim Power Corp from 2010 – 2017, and finally as an independent contractor from 2018. Dwayne accomplished much through his life and was particularly proud of the birth of his children.   Staying active was important and he enjoyed going to the gym, bike riding and golf. Travel was an important part of his life. Dwayne’s most memorable vacations were when he and Terry took a Mediterranean cruise in 2015, for their twenty-fifth wedding anniversary and a Panama Canal cruise in 2018. He will be most remembered for his subtle sense of humour and quiet disposition.

 

Besides his loving wife Terry, Dwayne is survived by his two children, Mira (formerly Dane), and Keira. Dwayne is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law, David and Betty Frebrowski of Edmonton, AB; two nephews, Gary and Gerald Frebrowski; and two nieces, Carmen and Theresa Frebrowski. He will also be missed by his boxer Tank. Dwayne was predeceased by his mother Nadia “Ida” Dychkowski, father Joseph Dychkowski, brother and sister-in-law, Adolph and Phyllis Frebrowski.

 

A Celebration of Dwayne’s Life will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Park Memorial, 5008 Elbow Drive SW, Calgary, AB) on Friday, October 22, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home. Those attending will be asked to confirm one of the following, (A) COVID vaccination (date requested), OR (B) a negative COVID test (within 72 hours), OR (C) Medical exemption AND valid government identification (with name & date of birth) OR (D) Under 12 years of age. Family and friends who are unable to attend in person are invited to join Mr. Dychkowski’s service streamed live (see below) on the day of the service.
