Condolences
I really still can't believe he is gone. We have spent many evenings at the Williams residence in the last 10 years that I've known them, with the gang strictly calling Esther and Larry, "Mom" and "Dad." He was exceptional at board games indeed, with an incredible sense of humour, and the wittiest remarks. I've watched him and the boys play video games many times and we’ve had so much fun when playing board games together, especially Cards Against Humanity, which he made ever more fun and funnier to play. He was always so generous and kind with everyone, including sharing his favourite recipes with me, always printing me a copy right there at home and asking if I had any recipe suggestions for him. He also took wonderful photos and recordings at Amir and my wedding, and burned a disc for us as a souvenir. It was beyond sweet and thoughtful.
He had so much presence, a great smile and a distinct voice and manner of speaking. We loved him very much for all the wonderful and unique ways he was Larry “Dad” Williams.
My greatest regret is not having seen Larry in the past two years. While I was pregnant and when Miran was very little we did not go out much and the one time we came over, Larry and Esther were visiting family in Edmonton. I really wish, he would have had a chance to meet my son. I was thinking about it just the week prior to Larry’s passing as I had gone to the Value Village in Silver Springs, that maybe I should drop by and say hi. I really wish I would have.
Our sincerest condolences to Esther, Paul, Neil, Ewa, and the rest of Larry’s family. He will be dearly missed by all of us.
Larry developed the Calgary Transit GIS application and I was the tester. We were in constant contact for many months. He was professional and friendly. Though conversation was mainly work related, I learned that he liked to bake cookies and I had unloaded some of my cookie tin collection on him.
So sad to hear of Larry's passing, he was taken far too early. Condolences to his family & friends who will miss him. RIP Larry. - Lilly
Larry and Ester were my mom and dad's neighbours for many years. We have always been grateful for the care and kindness they provided for our parents - many over the fence visits and Larry was there unconditionally during more than one emergency. Ester always remembered my mom's birthday with a box of turtles. We also enjoy how the Wlliams family were always supportive of some of our weird adventures.

So very sad and so young. I worked in IT at the City but knew Larry through our IT quarterly retirees luncheons at the Legions and now at the Phil's Restaurant. I did not know Larry well but he was a very nice and interesting man. So very sorry to hear of his passing.

As a co-worker, Larry was always courteous, professional, and I always appreciated his witty humour. In our early days at the City, we had some chuckles & laughs over a few beers after work on numerous occasions.
My sincere condolences to Neil, Paul, Esther, & the rest of Larry’s family. It was an honour to have known him.
I didn't know Larry for a long time, just a handful of years having met him at a social event. But I enjoyed his wit, his stories and even traded a few recipes with him. He was such a pleasant person and will be missed.
Our sincere condolences to the family. We both worked with Larry at The City of Calgary - I worked with him for several years in the GIS Centre. I will always remember his brilliant smile. May your memories comfort you at this time.

Condolences to the family. I have never met Larry in person, but first met him virtually at the WeCanReason Webinars I started after COVID happened. From there, Larry joined the ASC book club, which I used to organize. He always had interesting insights, even if he hadn’t read the book til the end. But then he came with me to Susan Gerbic’s social trivia, which I promoted every book club. That was the end of book club for him (it was on the same night). I was very happy that he enjoyed trivia so much and that he found it to be a fun place to hang out. He attended much more faithfully than I did but I was always happy to see Larry whenever I popped in to play. He will be greatly missed.
To Larry's family, please accept my most sincere condolences on your loss. I had the honour of working with Larry for several years, and always admired his good nature, always ready smile and his professionalism. Rest In Peace, Larry.
Deepest condolences to all who loved Larry. I will remember Larry as a fellow player on the Thursday night "Social Trivia with Susan". Larry was a regular with the group. He had wit and smarts to spare. I will miss Larry. ~ Karen in Salinas, California
My sincere condolences to the family. I worked with Larry for a short time up to his retirement. Even after his retirement he would send me short messages asking how my family and I were doing. May his soul RIP.
Larry was one of the most reliable coworkers I've ever had and just a genuinely good person to have around. I always appreciated that Larry got to work before I did and that things would be running smoothly because of that. He loved organizing the lottery fund and group lunches at Ho Won's, I'll always remember those. He will be very much missed, RIP.
Our most sincere condolences to all members of the Williams' family. Hopefully you are able to move from this time of grief to one of fond remembrance. We only had the pleasure of meeting Larry at Kim and Reston's wedding, but learned of his great sense of humour over the past few years.

Larry and I worked together for 13 years, we was a great mentor, kind and patient. Larry was always up for a great social gathering and had great stories to share of his adventures, so sorry to hear of his passing, he will be missed.
Condolences to Larry's Family. I worked with him off and on for 30 years and he was a smart, hardworking guy who was always willing to help others. He will be missed greatly. RIP Larry
I've never met Larry in person, but over the last 30+ weeks he has joined myself and a group of about 30 characters each Thursday night for socializing with some fun trivia as well. Over those weeks we have bonded with each other, joking, playing, learning and commiserating about the world around us. I'm so glad Larry joined us, we learn from each other and what one person lacked another usually stepped up with their knowledge, and that makes us stronger. I'm not talking just about trivia, but about friendships, strangers to each other who bond over inside jokes and form a kind of resistance to a lot of bad that the pandemic threw at us. I'm told that Larry really looked forward to Thursday trivia, that makes me so happy to know. I'm honored that his son took the time to sign on when there was so much more to do, in order to tell us. That was very special and heartwarming. Everyone was very touched when I told everyone when the group gathered later that night.
My heart goes out to the family, I know he just had a fun vacation weeks before. I'm so sorry you are going though this, but thank you for sharing Larry with us each Thursday. I know it is too early to want to watch these, but we recorded almost all of the trivia games. They are long and rambling and we love it that way. He started with us on November 11, 2021 - game #80 and his last game was during his vacation Game # 123. Should you ever want to watch Larry as a part of the group and hanging out without knowing time was short, here is the playlist of videos https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PL7VAuaQDhPTXNOxaxheAzANuHtaTGPTKd. Just a bunch of friends using trivia as an excuse to hang out one night a week.
We will miss you Larry.
