Obituary of Peter John Cavanagh

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Peter John Cavanagh of Calgary, AB, who passed away on Friday, September 16, 2022 at the age of 79 years.
Peter was born in Loughborough, England on December 21, 1942, eldest son of the late Hugh Cavanagh and Josephine Cavanagh (nee Weed). Peter graduated from the University of Manchester with a degree in Chemical Engineering and immigrated to Canada as a young man.
He survived his wife and companion, Marie Ellen Cavanagh (nee Allaby), whom he met in New Brunswick and built a wonderful life for 45 years. Throughout his life, Peter enjoyed the outdoors, especially while gardening, camping, skiing, snowshoeing, hiking, birdwatching, and he loved a good round of golf. Besides his partner Leslie Miller, Peter is survived by his two sons, Steven (Monique Kattenburg), grandchildren, Chelsea and Kaylee; and Andrew (Jannet Pon), grandsons, Nicholas and Gavin; his daughter Penelope (Kevin McEvoy); brothers, John (Margaret), Hugh (Jean), Robert (Maureen), James, Francis (Brenda), and Joseph (predeceased) (Linda), his sister Mary (Guy), many nieces, nephews, cousins, and lifelong and new friends that shared his love of the outdoors and adventurous spirit.
