Obituary of Wendy Lynne Coates

Wendy Coates of Calgary, AB, passed away on Thursday, September 22, 2022, at the age of 66 years.

Wendy was born in Calgary, AB, on September 12, 1956.

Wendy attended the Springbank schools and graduated from the Springbank High School in 1975. She then attended the Olds Agriculture & Technology school and gained certification in Floriculture.

Wendy worked for David L. Jones Wholesale Florist for many years as a sales and delivery person until she retired in 1996. Wendy loved flowers and knew the colors and names of most flowers.

At the time of her passing, Wendy was living at the Garrison Green long-term care facility and had just passed eight years of residence there. She made many friends and will be missed by all.

Wendy is survived by her older sister Bev. Bowman (Jim) of Calgary, AB, one older brother Ernie Coates (Wendy) of Chilliwack, BC, one younger brother Phil Coates (Susan) of Strathmore, AB, and Rolly’s partner Karen Walker of Airdrie, AB. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Wendy was predeceased by her parents Pete and Olive Coates of Calgary and her older brother Rolly Coates of Airdrie, AB.

The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the staff and residents of Garrison Green for the care and support Wendy received while a resident there.

Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at McInnis & Holloway (Crowfoot, 82 Crowfoot Circle NW, Calgary, AB) on Thursday, September 29, 2022, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. 

Funeral Services will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Crowfoot, 82 Crowfoot Circle NW, Calgary, AB), on Thursday, September 29, 2022, at 10:30 a.m. Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home. Graveside Service will follow the reception at Eden Brook Memorial Gardens (24223 Township Rd 242, Calgary, AB).

Family and friends who are unable to attend in person are invited to join Miss Coates’ service streamed live (see below) on the day of the service. For those who are unable to view live, a recording of the service will be posted. Condolences, memories, and photos can also be shared and viewed here.
