Obituary of Ann Jones

June 30, 1925 – Alticane, Saskatchewan

September 27, 2022 – Calgary, Alberta

Ann Jones, beloved wife of the late Harry Thomas Jones, of Calgary, AB, passed away on Tuesday, September 27, 2022, at the age of 97 years.

Ann was born on a farm in Alticane, SK, on June 30, 1925, and later moved with her family to Prince Albert, SK. As a young woman she came to visit Calgary and loved it so much that her and her sister, Pearl, moved there in the early 1950's. It was in Calgary that she met her future husband, Tom, at a barn dance. They married in 1952 and had nearly 70 happy years together. They had one daughter, Patricia, and one granddaughter, Jennifer, both whom they cherished.

Ann had an inner strength that carried her throughout her life. She also had a strong sense of family, not only for her husband, daughter, and granddaughter, but her brothers and sisters as well. Ann had a passion for gardening, receiving many compliments from friends and neighbours. She also had a passion for growing flowers, particularly roses. Ann always enjoyed spending time with her granddaughter and daughter, going for drives to Kananaskis and Banff, going to the zoo, Heritage Park, the Stampede, or just going to the mall. She loved being with "her girls".

Ann is survived by her daughter, Patricia Barrow of Calgary, AB, and granddaughter, Jennifer Barrow of Calgary, AB. She is also survived by her sister Pearl Wild and brother-in-law John Wild, of Nanaimo, B.C.; and sister in-law, Marvette Shelefontiuk of Colorado, USA. She also has numerous nieces and nephews. Ann was predeceased by her husband Tom, her parents, Alex and Mary Shelefontiuk; brothers, Bill, John, Mike, and Dick Shelefontiuk; and sister Mary Babij.
