Obituary of Jesse Michael Dunlop

August 8, 1975 - Regina, Saskatchewan

September 27, 2022 - Calgary, Alberta

Jesse Dunlop, beloved husband of Jennifer Nistico, of Calgary, AB, passed away on Tuesday, September 27, 2022, at the age of 47 years following a valiant and tenacious health battle.

Jesse was born in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada on August 8, 1975. He graduated from Carlton High School in Prince Albert, SK in 1993 and went on to study many subjects from Marketing to Commerce in the years that followed. He graduated from the University of Lethbridge with a Bachelor of Management degree in 2008. Jesse was particularly proud of the business network he established through his many years working as a Director of Business Development in the oil and gas service industry. He had the gift of gab, which served him well when dealing with corporate executives, and he was well respected in his field.

Jesse met his wife, Jennifer Nistico in 2003 and they were married in Mexico in 2007. Together they enjoyed travelling across Canada, the US, and far-flung destinations like Thailand. From camping with the kids over the summer to sledding with them in winter, he was never one to shy away from trying something new. His spare time was filled with coaching both his sons’ Southwest Cougar hockey teams, golfing, bodybuilding, along with watching his newly acquired love for the Toronto Blue Jays.

Jesse will be remembered as a fierce protector of his family and friends, yet he wore his heart on his sleeve. His kids were his ultimate pride and joy. His warm and inviting character made children naturally gravitate to him. You always knew when he was in the room - his personality was larger than life - and his dance moves were something to be noticed. A self-proclaimed movie buff, Jesse knew the lines to most movies, and had the ability to recite them at the drop of a hat, almost winning an Oscar nomination himself. He never followed the rules - he was creative enough to come up with his own!

Besides his loving wife Jennifer Nistico, Jesse is survived by his three beautiful children, Britton, Brayden, and Everly; as well as his loving parents Dennis (stepmother Karen) Dunlop, Darcy Dunlop, and step-father Decker (Deborah) Butzner. He is also survived by his elder brother David (Erin) Dunlop, little sister Jessica Aimoe, father-in-law Robert (Fern) Nistico, brother-in-law Patrick (Amy) Nistico and sister-in-law Chantalle (Joe) Jebreen; and numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A Celebration of Jesse’s Life will be held at the Shawnessy Barn Community Center (224 Shawmeadows Road SW, Calgary AB) on Sunday, October 9, 2022, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. Condolences, memories, and photos can also be shared, and viewed here.   If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to KidSport Canada - Alberta, Box 36107, Lakeview RPO, Calgary, AB T3E 7C6 Telephone: 1-(888) 91-4kids or (403) 217-3761, www.kidsportcanada.ca.
