Obituary of Alvira Luella Landels (nee Corry)

October 13, 1922 – Hanna, Alberta

September 30, 2022 - Calgary, Alberta

Ella Landels of Calgary, AB unexpectedly but peacefully passed away on Friday, September 30, 2022, thirteen days shy of her 100^th birthday.

Mom was born in Hanna, AB, and grew up in various small towns throughout Alberta including Calgary where she graduated from Western Canada High School. Ella then moved to Acme where she met the love of her life, Bert Landels and they married in 1945.  Together they raised four children and lived in various air force bases throughout Canada before settling back in Calgary in 1962.

Ella was devoted to her family and always put us first. She was amazing physically and mentally and even up to her last day she took pleasure in her exceptional memory of all the happenings in the family and all our history. She was always there to lend an ear, a hug, and solid advice. When we ask anyone about our mom the terms "Lady, classy, elegant, and composed" were always on the list. She was extremely caring and generous to anyone who knew her, and she will be desperately missed.

Ella is lovingly remembered by her sister Isabel, her children, Lynn Brookes, Ron (Sue) Landels, Debbie Landels, and Lori Landels; nine surviving grandchildren, and fifteen great-grandchildren. She also left behind numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert (Bert) Landels, and her parents, Herman and Isabella Corry; her brothers, Howard, Walter, Herman (Betty), Ernie (Polly), her grandson Jerrad Landels and son-in-law Bill Brookes.

A Celebration of Ella’s Life will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Fish Creek, 14441 Bannister Road SE, Calgary, AB) on Friday, October 7, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home. Family and friends who are unable to attend in person are invited to join Ella's service streamed live (see below) on the day of the service. For those who are unable to view live, a recording of the service will be posted. Condolences, memories, and photos can also be shared and viewed here.  If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to the charity of the donor’s choice.

A special thank you to the gentlemen of the Sierras of Evergreen wood shop for the love and care put into the art piece that is mom’s urn.
