Obituary of Brian Colin McCartney

With broken hearts we announce the passing of our beloved father, Brian Colin McCartney, at the age of 90. He will be dearly missed by all those who were fortunate enough to have him in their lives. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 55 years, Roberta Jane McCartney (nee Deyell).
Brian was the son of Colin and Gwendolyn and grew up in St. Foy near Quebec City. He graduated from McGill University in 1955 with a degree in Chemical Engineering. Brian and Roberta settled to Calgary where he began his career in the oil and gas industry, working for Imperial Oil (Esso) for over 35 years. His career brought him to Swan Hills, AB in the seventies where he managed the Judy Creek gas plant and to London, UK in the eighties and then back to Calgary, where he retired as an executive advisor on the company’s acquisitions and divestures.
Brian was a wonderful dad and father-in-law to his children, Scott, Bruce, Jim and Heather and their respective partners. He was a proud grandpa to nine grandchildren, Duncan, Andrew, Kevin, Peter, Holly, Beau, Tate, Katie and Anna. He was a loving brother to Jean Fitzsimmons, and uncle to her children Bernie, Bev, Brenda and Bob, who live in Edmonton and Calgary, as well as an uncle to Jennifer, Shannon and Kelly who live in Toronto.
Funeral Services will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Park Memorial, 5008 Elbow Drive SW, Calgary, AB) on Thursday, July 6, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared and viewed here.
