Bette Williams

Obituary of Bette Williams

With great love and affection, we celebrate the beautiful, vibrant, and fiercely independent family matriarch Bette Williams, who left us a few months short of her 99th birthday.

Bette lived a remarkable life in three grand chapters.

Daughter of Francis and Elizabeth Munro of Winnipeg, the eldest of four siblings, a nurse and flight attendant, Bette had dreams of travelling the world until she met and captured the heart of handsome pilot Alan Anthony Williams.

Married in 1948, the newlyweds moved to Calgary and happily began chapter two: raising their family of four children—Tony, Ward, Judy, and Geoff—in Elbow Park. Bette and Al welcomed daughters-in-laws Jeanne, Linda, and Sharon Roche, followed by seven grandchildren, their partners, and five great-grandchildren: Sandy Williams; Arden, Matt, Finley, Tristan, and Chapman Sharples; Virginia Williams, Todd and Cormac Campbell; Ford, Brittany, and Aubrey Williams; and Carly, Ella, and Ross Williams.

Bette and Al treasured lifelong friendships at the Glencoe Club and Earl Grey Golf Club, and their travels to Britain, Europe, Hawaii, and the United States. After Al passed in 2004, Bette began a fresh chapter with Molly, her best-ever furry friend. Bette continued to voraciously read books, enjoy time with family, and play golf and bridge with cherished friends.

On Bette’s behalf, we thank all the family members and friends who deeply enriched her life. Bette will forever be in our hearts and inspire us to create our own remarkable life chapters.
