Obituary of Eileen "Joan" Szabo

Eileen Szabo (nee Parsons), of Cochrane, Alberta, passed away on Wednesday, August 30, 2023 at the age of 76 years.
Joan was born in Victoria, BC, on May 26, 1947. Joan graduated from Oak Bay Senior Secondary School in Victoria, BC, in 1966 and from the University of Victoria with a BA in Psychology in 1982.
Joan married Leslie Otto Szabo in 1968 and they moved to Dawson Creek, BC, for nine years and then back to Victoria, BC, in 1977. In 2008 she moved to Cold Lake, AB, and then to London, ON, in 2011. Her final move was to Cochrane, AB, in 2021 to be close to family.
Joan accomplished much through her life and was proud of her university degree, and her piano scholarship at the Victoria Conservatory of Music. She was also particularly proud of her career in commercial construction alongside her husband Leslie.
She will be most remembered for her love of animals, and music, her dedication to family, and her deep connection to God, and her faith.
Besides her loving husband, Joan is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Catherine and Travis Brassington of Cochrane, AB, three grandchildren, Bailey Brassington of Saguenay, QC, Riley Brassington of North Bay, ON, and Alexis Brassington of Cochrane, AB; as well as siblings, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Joan was predeceased by her mother Eileen Constance Kozma, and her father Howard Parsons.
