Obituary of Benita Gail Hounam
June 6, 1958 – Brantford, Ontario
July 30, 2024 – Calgary, Alberta
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Benita Hounam, of Calgary, AB, on Tuesday, July 30, 2024, at the age of 66 years.
Coming into the world as a complete surprise, her parents, Tom and Blanche Hounam, welcomed her on June 6, 1958, five minutes behind her twin sister, Berneice. She was always the baby sister of the family, not only to her twin sister Berneice (Martins) but to her brother Tommy (predeceased), sister Brenda and brother Eric and a sister-in-law to Anna, Gail and Rick. She was known as Aunt Ben to all her nieces and nephews.
Benita grew up in Paris, ON, but her adventurous nature took her to live in Kingston, ON, Calgary, AB, and Belfast, Northern Ireland.
