Obituary of Raymond Dennis Vasseur
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, Raymond Vasseur, on Friday, August 2, 2024, at the age of 80 years.
Ray was born in May 1944 in Calgary, AB, to Joan and Alec Vasseur. He was the eldest of five children, with one brother and three sisters. Ray grew up in Three Hills, AB, until July of 1963 when the family moved back to Calgary.
Prior to marrying his wife Odette Ray was married and raised four children. Ray met the love of his life Odette in 1992 and they were married in May 2008.
Raymond was a strong believer in hard work. He was a barber for 53 years, running his Altadore Barber Shop for 44 of those 53 years. He was beloved by his loyal customers, many of whom served our country in the military.
Family meant everything to Raymond, he is succeeded by his four children as well as William, Rhett, Jayla, Greyson, and Scotlyn, his five grandchildren. He also had two stepchildren and seven step-grandchildren.
Funeral Services for Raymond Vasseur will be held Friday, August 9, 2024, at Centre Street Church Central Campus (West Entrance, 3900 – 2nd Street NE, Calgary, AB). Viewing starts at 10:00 a.m., Service starts at 11:00 a.m.
Family and friends who are unable to attend in person are invited to join Mr. Vasseur’s service streamed live (see link below) on the day of the service. For those who are unable to view live, a recording of the service will be posted.
