Obituary of Eve Sally MacKenzie

January 8, 1942 – Samburg, Saskatchewan

August 4, 2024 – Calgary, Alberta

The entire family of Eve are very saddened and heartbroken to announce her sudden passing on Sunday, August 4, 2024, at the age of 82 years. Eve is predeceased by her husband of 45 years, Doug MacKenzie, and is survived by her three loving stepdaughters, four grandchildren, and one baby great-grandson. She also leaves to mourn her loving brother, sister, aunts, uncles, and many loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and her life-long friends. Even with Eve’s physical mobility issues, she was a “Trooper” until the day she passed, never giving up.

Eve was born and lived in Prince Albert, SK, and after high school she moved to Montreal to attend university and start a career, later moving to Calgary to work with AGT at the beginning of career and later worked many years at various Oil and Gas companies. After she retired from Oil and Gas, she started her own small filing company where she continued to contract with various Oil and Gas companies where she met many life-long friends up until her passing.

She met Doug in Calgary through her mutual friend, and they were married in 1973 for 45 happy years until Doug’s passing in 2018. Doug was the love of Eve’s life, and she missed him tremendously and was devastatingly heartbroken when he passed.

She finally retired and became a “snowbird,” travelling with Doug to Arizona, Nevada, and Mexico in their motorhome with their cherished dog (Patches), and lovebird (Smuggy) in tow, where they met many lifelong friends.

They also loved camping and fishing locally in their jet boat together, and with family fishing trips. Eve was an avid dog lover and had a great love of all animals - big and small. They loved entertaining with family and friends who came to visit or stay from near and far, in their beautifully flowered gardens in NW Calgary.

Eve enjoyed hobbies in retirement that included making bead-work creations of earrings, bracelets, necklaces, and other crafts that she made for family, many friends, and her co-workers.

Eve never forgot anyone’s birthday, and loved her entire family with all her heart. She will be missed by all who knew her. Say hi to Dad for us. We all imagine you are having a few glasses of good wine and especially when you reunited with Dad. Rest in Peace, Eve until we all meet again above. Xoxo
