Obituary of Lois Levick

April 18, 1926 – Didsbury, Alberta

August 4, 2024 – Didsbury, Alberta

Lois Jean Levick (nee Sundberg), of Didsbury, AB, passed away on Sunday, August 4, 2024, after a short illness at the age of 98 years.

Lois was born in Didsbury, AB, on April 18, 1926, the eldest child of Carl and Edna Sundberg. Growing up, her family lived in Leslieville, AB, and Carstairs, AB, where she developed her love of music, both singing and playing piano.

On June 15, 1951, Lois received her diploma from the School for Nursing Aides in Calgary, AB. She got a job working in the Stettler Hospital where she met her future husband, Harry William Levick.

Lois and Harry married on February 27, 1954, in Stettler, AB. Due to Harry’s job in the Oil Industry, they lived in several central Alberta towns before settling down in Crossfield, AB, in 1960, where Lois lived for the rest of her life.

Lois joined the United Church in Crossfield and spent many years singing in the church choir. She also enjoyed playing her piano and singing with her grandchildren when they were young.

Once Lois moved into the Crossfield Lodge in 2007, you often found her with knitting needles and a ball of yarn in hand as she knitted baby hats to be donated to the hospitals. She enjoyed visiting and playing cards with the other residents, and she kept active, often walking and playing Wii bowling, even taking part in the Terry Fox Run in the rain at the age of 84.

Lois was an extremely proud grandma to her five grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren, loving her visits with them all and showing them off to the other residents of the Lodge.

Lois is survived by her only son, David and his wife Sherry (nee Ward) of Airdrie, AB; her five grandchildren, Becky Urban of Airdrie, AB, Rian Levick of Airdrie, AB, Rhianna Smith and her husband Justin of Airdrie, AB, Randy Levick and his wife Tara (nee Simpson) of Airdrie, AB, and Rodger Levick and his wife Laurin (nee Kasper) of Penhold, AB; ten great-grandchildren, Ren Goulet, Kai Goulet, Dixon Goulet, Hunter Smith, Sloane Smith, Mason Levick, and Taylor Levick all of Airdrie, AB, and Clover Levick, Boden Levick and Merritt Levick of Penhold, AB; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Lois was predeceased by her husband, Harry Levick; parents, Carl and Edna (nee Shantz) Sundberg; her brother and sister-in-law, Grant and Betty Sundberg; and sister and brother-in-law, Lenore and Wes Barton.
