Obituary of Antonio Iaquinta

November 11, 1933 - San Giovanni, Fiore Cosenza, Italy

August 4, 2024 - Calgary, Alberta

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Antonio Iaquinta, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, who left us peacefully surrounded by his loving wife and three children on Sunday, August 4, 2024.

Antonio was born on November 11, 1933, in San Giovanni, Fiore Cosenza, Italy.  He arrived in Canada in 1957, embarking on a new adventure in Kimberly, British Columbia.

After dedicating 37 years to the City of Kimberly, Antonio retired and moved to Calgary in 1994 to be closer to his family, cherishing the opportunity to spend more time with his loved ones.

He was a devoted husband to his lovely wife, Fiorina, with whom he shared 68 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they built a life filled with love and laughter, raising three children: Frank (Janyce), Rosa (Bruce), and Aldo (Trish). His legacy continues through his eight grandchildren, Jerad, Lee (Emily), Sarah (Devon), Tony (Lacey), Gina (Ali), Mekayla, Antonio and Daniella, and nine great-grandchildren, who were the light of his life.

An avid sports fan, Antonio had a passion for soccer and loved to play the game. He was a dedicated supporter of his favourite team, Inter Milan, and enjoyed sharing his enthusiasm for the sport with family and friends. He was also well-known for building the Bocce Pits and participating in the July Fest Bocce tournaments.

Antonio was known for his unwavering work ethic and deep sense of family. He embraced his new life in Canada with enthusiasm and determination, always finding joy in the simple moments with his loved ones. His kindness, wisdom, and humour will be remembered by all who knew him.

The family would like to thank the doctors and staff at the Rockyview General Hospital, and a special thanks to Doctor Ko and the staff at Ohana Medical Center.
