Obituary of Kyle Bruce Arnold Scott

July 8, 1964 – August 4, 2024

Kyle Scott, beloved husband of Yolanta Scott (nee Sochacki) of Calgary, AB, passed away on Sunday, August 4, 2024, at the age of 60 years.

He will be lovingly remembered by his older brother David (Heather), younger sister Kathie (nee Scott) Earnshaw (Doug) and younger brother Drew, as well as his nieces Jacklyn and Alexandra, nephew Shayne and numerous cousins, extended family and friends.

Kyle is survived by his four children Iain, Kristie, Alexander (formerly Jessie) and Lena (formerly Liam). He will be affectionately remembered by his stepchildren Shaun (Anna) and Izabela (Daniel), and his grandson Leonardo.

Kyle was predeceased by his parents Brian and Sheila Scott, his parents-in-law, Wanda and Kazimierz Sochacki, and his sister-in-law Erika Scott (nee Krentz).

Kyle was born in Winnipeg, MB, but later moved to Calgary with his parents and siblings. In his early adulthood, he obtained his BA, MBA, and his law degree. As a university student, he was a member of the Zeta Psi Fraternity where he established long-time friendships with his frat brothers.

During his career, Kyle worked for several law firms and other employers over the years. However, his last work endeavour was his own law practice, Craft Law Group.

Kyle was very proud of becoming an Officer in the King’s Own Calgary Regiment Reserves in the mid-80s and reminisced about his own experience in the Canadian Armed Forces often. He had an unparalleled passion and memory for history, the military, politics, and sports.

He learned to play the bagpipes at an early age and continued to not only play for his family and friends but also taught, young students of the 78 Fraser Highlanders where of late, he was the Officer Commanding. He loved to be in the company of family and friends and had an infectious sense of humour and a talent for making folks feel welcome.

Kyle will be warmly remembered by all his brethren in the Masonic community, the Al Azhar Shriners’ clubs, and the Masonic committees to which he belonged. Most recently, he finished his tenure as the Grand Master of Alberta 2023-2024. Kyle was an active member of numerous organizations such as the 78 Fraser Highlanders, the Burns Club, and the Easter Seals, and a director on many boards.

The family wishes to thank all first responders, medical staff, and the concerned commuters who so graciously and unquestionably offered their assistance on August 4. As well as McPherson’s Funeral Home for their very supportive service at the time of this great need and tragic loss. Our travel companions and close family friends went over and beyond with their assistance and unwavering support, which will not be forgotten and forever grateful.
