Obituary of Colin Maury Alois Sanderson
July 19, 1963 - Edmonton, Alberta
August 7, 2024 - Calgary, Alberta
Colin Sanderson of Calgary, AB, passed away on Wednesday, August 7, 2024, at the age of 61 years.
He was born in Edmonton, AB, on July 19, 1963. He moved to Calgary, AB, in 1964, and lived there the rest of his life. Colin graduated from Bishop Grandin High School then studied Psychology at Mount Royal College.
Colin was loved as a son, a brother, a grandson, a nephew, a brother-in-law, an uncle, a cousin, and a friend.
He had many eclectic interests but was particularly fond of fishing and the outdoors. He was also an avid coin and stamp collector. He liked shooting, music, reading, and scary movies as well. He always had well-researched facts and figures that he brought to every discussion.
Colin loved his family and his friends. He always took time to visit and was happiest when sharing stories with those close to him around a fire or over a cup of coffee. He was a fan of playing practical jokes and a good sport when it was his turn.
He travelled to England and Ireland and often shared stories of his adventures there.
Colin will be dearly missed by all who were close to him, for his welcoming way, his easy conversation, his gentle spirit, and his love of family.
Colin is survived by his brother Neil, sister-in-law Terry, and his nieces, Austin and Tyra, all of whom live in Calgary, AB. He is also survived by many cousins of the McCulloch and Mahoney families of Edmonton, AB.
He was predeceased by his mother Teresa Sanderson, whom he loved dearly.
For the last four years, Colin resided at the Dr. Vernon Fanning Centre. Many thanks to the staff for their countless acts of kindness, care, and support that were provided to Colin while he lived there.
How lucky we are to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard.
