Obituary of Eric Alexander Schmidt

Eric Schmidt of Calgary, AB, passed away on Thursday, August 8, 2024, at the age of 35 years.

He was born in Edmonton, AB, on April 12, 1989, and moved to Calgary in 1992. Eric graduated from the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology with a diploma in Information Technology-Software Development.

Eric loved music and taught himself how to play guitar at the age of fifteen. He was an avid gamer. On holidays he had a passion for snowboarding in winter, and wakeboarding in summer. He was also an excellent skateboarder. He enjoyed the outdoors throughout the year and spent many hours walking in Fish Creek Park.

His real passion was for cooking, Eric loved to make seafood pasta. He was known for his ability to take anything from the fridge and make an appetizing meal and especially loved to spice things up. Eric will be most remembered for his dry sense of humour, intelligence, kindness, and loyalty to his friends and family.

Eric is survived by his mother Susan Yuzwak (née Kuhn) and stepfather Stephen Yuzwak, both of Barrie, ON; grandparents, Fred and Louise Kuhn, of Sault Ste. Marie, ON; aunt Linda Kuhn, uncles, Joerg Hettmann, Daniel Kuhn, and Steven Kuhn; as well as numerous cousins and friends.

He will be missed.
