Obituary of Joan Biensch

Joan Biensch, beloved wife of Roy Biensch, of Rocky View County, AB, passed away on Sunday, August 11, 2024, at the age of 88 years.

Joan was born in Edgerton, AB, on May 30, 1936. After finishing her schooling in Edgerton, she went on to take her final year at Vermilion College.

Joan married Roy Biensch in 1954 and moved to the homestead in the Artland and Marsden area where they started raising cattle. Eventually, they moved to their own place at Rainbow Ranch, where they raised Charolais cattle and elk. In 2004, they moved off the ranch to Calgary, where their youngest daughter resides.

Joan was a member of the Artland Ladies Club and various other church groups in the Lloydminster, Chauvin and Calgary areas. She enjoyed a good visit, sewing, gardening and cheering on her husband, children and grandchildren in their sporting endeavours.

Joan was able to do a lot of travelling. She and Roy made trips to France and other parts of Europe, the Holy Land, the Philippines, Hawaii, and various other places around the world.

Joan will be most remembered for her hospitality, giving haircuts, jewelry making, having a positive outlook on life, and serving her Lord and Savior.

Besides her loving husband Roy Biensch, Joan is survived by her daughters, Catharine Zimmerman (Tom) of Woodstock, ON, and Tammy Massé (Tim) of Rockyview County, AB; son Randy of Regina, SK, eight grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother George Welsh, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Joan was predeceased by her daughter Debra Peregrym, brother Richard (Dick) Welsh, grandson Rick Biensch, and daughter-in-law Lois Peyson Biensch.
