Obituary of Ernest William Molnar

August 12, 2024 – Calgary, Alberta

 

Ernest Molnar, beloved husband of Irene Galban Molnar, of Calgary, AB, passed away on Monday, August 12, 2024, at the age of 83 years.

 

He was born in Regina, SK, on January 3, 1941, to Mary and William Molnar. Ernest married Irene on May 23, 1993. Together, they shared a love that lasted over 30 years.

 

Ernest graduated from Balfour Collegiate in Regina, SK, and went on to become an accomplished Computer-Aid Draftsman. In his free time, Ernest enjoyed competitive bowling and was an avid fisherman, bow hunter, and golfer.

 

He will also be remembered for his great sense of humour and his dad jokes that always made his loved ones laugh. He was a kind and patient man who was always ready with a hug and kiss.

 

Ernest will be most remembered for his love for his family and as a die-hard Saskatchewan Rough Riders fan and Calgary Flames fan, his dedication to his favorite sports teams.

 

He is survived by his two sons, Ernie Molnar Jr. and Michael (Sharon) Molnar; and his two daughters, Shelley Eckstein and Kimberly (Stephen) Oates. Ernest is also a proud grandfather to ten grandchildren, Jessica Eckstein, Brittanie (Randy) Coumont, Olivia (Alex) Grant, Shawn (Elisabeth) Molnar, James (Marnie) Molnar, Joey (Hailey Chambers) Molnar, David Ernest Molnar, Jacob Molnar, Nicholas Molnar, and Everette Oates. He is also survived by his eight great-grandchildren, William Joshua Felix, Brett Addison Morgan, Zachariah Molnar, Jayna Molnar, Jackson Molnar, Quinn Molnar, William Molnar, and Hallie Molnar.

 

He will be deeply missed but his memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

 

Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at McInnis & Holloway (Chapel of the Bells, 2720 Centre Street N, Calgary, AB) on Friday, August 23, 2024, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

 

Funeral Services will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Chapel of the Bells, 2720 Centre Street N, Calgary, AB) on Saturday, August 24, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home.
