Just found out Mr Hart passed this evening. I wish i knew so I could have attended. He was a great teacher and coach. Always appreciated a joke in class but also got serious when needed. You’re going to be missed Mr. Hart. Rest in peace.
I’m very saddened to hear of Stacey’s passing. I grew up in Vista Heights with Stacey and we spent a lot of time playing ball hockey and football together in the neighborhood park and schoolyard. He was always the quarterback. I remember him being a lefty and he always had the strongest arm. He could throw a perfect spiral as far as he wanted. Such a great childhood friend, and sounds like an even better man. My sincere condolences to his family and friends.
You're a great man Stacey Hart! I enjoyed working with Stacey at McNally over the years and always trusted that students would be well cared for in his TA. Stacey knew when one of his students needed a little extra care, support, or patience, but he also knew when they needed that little extra "push". I always appreciated his sense of humour and want his friends and family to know the difference he's made in many lives. Sending love and prayers!

I had the pleasure of having Mr.Hart, or as our 2012/2013 Home Room would call “The Stacenator” for my grade 9 year during a difficult transition in my life. Mr.Hart went out of his way to make sure I was always doing okay with everything going on in my life, and making my transition to a new school as smooth as possible. To this day, I miss our morning chats about the Patriots and Cowboys, arguing over Troy Aikman being a game manager or not, or how we were going to go about playing our basketball game that night.
My favourite story above all, Mr.Hart drove me and another student to one of our basketball games ( he was coaching) and he was flooring it down Anderson trying to get there on time. Sure enough, right past a police officer, and soon enough we were pulled over.
A smart man, he turned to me and said “ Im either gonna use my muscles or that I have 2 students in the car to get out of this” he wisely went the latter and somehow he got off the ticket.
He then turned to both of us and said “ Nobody hears about this, capiche?”
We nodded our heads and we were off on our way
Well Mr.Hart, cats out of the bag now. Thank you for being a role model and someone to lean on for me. I know every last one of your students through the years feels the same way. Time to “get er done” up there big guy
My sincerest condolences to Stacey’s family and the staff at St. Mary’s HS.
I met Stacey at my very first school and we instantly became good friends. My fondest memory of Stacey was competing (impromptu) at the Toad and Turtle pub in a game of name that tune. We sang, we danced and we won.
Stacey was always fun to be around and share a laugh with.
I was happy to see him again in January 2024 at St. Mary’s open house- A Day in the Life of a Saint. He let me borrow his laptop. He was always willing to help in any way he could. He was kind, caring, athletic and had the best sense of humour.
Sending prayers to his family. Stacey, you will be missed dearly.
Lori and I send our deepest condolences to Jamie, the Stronge and the Hart Families and to Stacey's many friends and colleagues. We knew Stacey mainly from watching as he and Lionel walked past our cabin 3 in Valleys Edge Resort with or without Jamie at their side. Stacey was always in his signature shorts whatever season we often shared a quick laugh from his comments as he walked past, most recently him sharing that Lionel had broken the canine land speed record for leaving an air conditioned cabin to 34 degree heat to do his business and get back to the cabin! Stacey will be missed by many, including at Valleys Edge Resort and no doubt the Columbia Valley Golf Courses that Stacey, Jamie, Clarence and Linda enjoyed together so often. Take comfort in knowing the wonderful impact that Stacey had in all of his communities, despite leaving his family and friends far too soon.
The gym shorts in winter, the giant cereal bowl and the contagious laugh-these are the things that I think about when I think of Stacey. I had the pleasure of working with him at St. Cyril and he was the best of colleagues. He thought nothing of walking into my grade nine ELA room a few minutes after the start of class and saying to the kids, “Who wants to go outside for extra phys-ed?? The room would empty in a heartbeat and off they would go. That says a couple of things about Stacey- that he loved being around the kids, that he never missed an opportunity to lighten someone else’s load and finally, that he knew phys-ed was more fun than ELA! I looked for a quote that spoke to Stacey’s view on life and landed on this one by Feodor Dostoyevsky. He said, “If you wish to glimpse inside a human soul and get to know the man, don’t bother analyzing his way of being silent, of talking, of weeping, or seeing how much he is moved by noble ideas; you will get better results if you just watch him laugh. If he laughs well and often, he is a good man.” Stacey was one of the best.
Stacey was my Home Room for 3 years and had a huge impact on the man I became. He mentored me with a firm yet supportive and guiding hand, something I needed at that age. I also had the privilege of running into Stacy as an adult in BC. While golfing the usual track, we got delayed at a tee box. We were able to catch up and chat. Fast forward a month, we run into each other on the course again. Turns out, they stay at the same resort.. shows how small of a world it is.
I wish we were we able to grab that beer we always talked about. Thank you for the impact you had on my life and the others around you. Rest Easy Stacey. You have impacted the lives of many.
My condolences and prayers to Jamie and to all of Stacey’s family and friends. As a member of the Chargers, I enjoyed playing alongside Stacey on the offence and enjoying a well deserved beer after the game. We shared many stories, talked (a little) about work, but our best times came from standing back and throwing verbal jabs at our brothers’ shortcomings off the field (we thought we were sooo clever)! His cheeky laugh always elevated the nonsense. Stacey was well-suited to flag football and how many times did he score a TD on that sneaky corner-route? The fraternal bond within our team will remain but a sliver of our heart will forever be missing. As Stacey’s Principal at Bishop McNally HS for four years, I appreciated Stacey’s work in the gym, in the fitness centre and as a coach for several athletic teams. Stacey was a champion for his students’ successes and had many lasting, working relationships with many of them. His impact as a teacher is far-reaching and will be at the forefront of his legacy. Until we meet again my friend! Rest in peace.
Mr. Hart was my grade 9 homeroom teacher. His was the class that everyone wanted to be in and part of this was because he let you know in his own way, that he loved you, he was rooting for you, and that he truly cared. 15 years later, I still talk about him and remember him fondly with other friends from junior high. I remember the way he always provided us with a safe space in the classroom to be ourselves, the way he cared about each individual student and always made you feel like you mattered, and his long lasting presence in our lives. The kindest and most patient man I have ever met, he has been, and will always be, impossible to forget.
He has always been surrounded by love and appreciation. I do hope that this can be a comfort to his loved ones; knowing that he will continue to live on in the hearts of his students who will remember his kindness and pass that kindness on to others. I am so sorry for your loss.
Mr. Hart, I had told you back then, and I hope you still knew it til your last moments, just how unbelievably great you were. May you rest in eternal peace.

Shocked and saddened to hear this news. What a pleasure it was to get to work with Stacey briefly at OLP School; nothing but fond memories of a kind, positive and collegial guy who was just easy to talk to and fun to be around; a student favourite - all the same kinds of things I hear from colleagues when discussing Stacey. Thoughts and prayers to family and friends on this loss of a great man.
Stacey Hart was the first teacher I ever subbed for. I was hired at OLP for my first year teaching and was surprised to meet Stacey there who had also just been hired. I remember I told him he was the first guy I subbed for and he asked me if his sub plan was written on a napkin. We both shared so many laughs at OLP together. We coached senior boys' basketball together and constantly chatted football and hockey. When our time at OLP came to an end, we made speeches for each other at the year end party. I always wanted to coach with him again after that.
He was a gem of a person, athlete, friend and coach. He was easy to talk to, funny, friendly and loved stirring the pot. Him putting a book called "Working out for Teens" in one of our colleague's mailbox was a legendary moment in my career. He was the heart of the staffroom and the school community and when he left, OLP was never the same. Stacey exemplified what being a Catholic community of caring was all about.
I send my deepest condolences to his family, friends, colleagues and students. He lives on in us. Rest in peace, Hartsy.

The loss of Stacy is one that will affect so many most especially all of you. May your memories guide you through the low times and bring smiles to each of you. A fond memory we have is at your wedding. From Stacy forgetting his suit at his parents, and having to race from the airport and break into their house to retrieve it, leaving the neighbours to deal with the repairs. To misplacing it on the bus to the resort and having corn flakes in your bed on the wedding night, he took it all in stride. Wouldn’t have been surprised if he showed up in his shorts at the ceremony. His easy going manner mixed well with his passion for life and those around him. May he rest in peace and bring smiles to those around him in heaven.

My condolences to the hart family I had the best experience with Mr hart both as a gym teacher and as a football coach in grade 11 and 12 and he was one of the best coaches I ever had for the sport and sad to see/hear that he has passed
To the family and friends of Mr. Hart,
I had Mr.Hart as my rugby couch and Physical Education teacher. I looked forward to rugby season every year not only because of my passion for the sport, but for the team dynamic that Mr. Hart created. He was so unbelievably cherished and loved by his athletes for a number of reasons, many of which are already mentioned here. To mention a few myself, Mr.Hart was hilarious, charismatic, he carried a positive attitude and he would lift up anybody who felt down. He was quick-witted and a fantastic leader. I consider myself lucky to have known him and to have learnt from him. He will be missed.

Some friends of mine from St. Cyril shared this sad news with me today. Mr. Hart was my grade 8 homeroom teacher back in 2008, and again in grade 9, along with my math teacher.
Everyone wanted to be in Mr. Hart's homeroom because of his nature - kind, compassionate, good-humoured, loved sports, and as a student you had the inkling that he was always on your side...that is, Mr. Hart felt more like a friend than a teacher. Only the lucky ones got the privilege of having him as their homeroom teacher.
Aside from academics, Mr. Hart also coached me in a variety of sports at Cyril - including the inaugural flag football team.
Sending my condolences to Mr. Hart's family. May you all take comfort in the many lives of students he touched, and in the knowledge that he continues to live on in the hearts and minds of students like me, who will always remember him fondly.

I had the privilege of having Mr. hart as my grade 7 homeroom teacher as well as phys. Ed teacher throughout grades 7-9 at OLP. He was such a fantastic teacher and a truly wonderful person. He touched so many young souls and will be deeply missed.

I was shocked to hear of Stacey’s passing. I worked with him at St. Mary High School. He was both liked and respected by staff, students, admin, and parents. I witnessed him to be a compassionate, caring, and amazing advocate for our students. The support that he provided to students in need exceeded any and all professional expectations. He was an excellent teacher, as indicated to me numerous times by many different students. My heart breaks for his family and I hope it comforts them to know that their grief is shared by all of us who knew him. He was a wonderful man and he will be sorely missed. May Stacey rest in peace, and may the perpetual light of Christ shine upon him.

I had the pleasure of working with Stacy at St. Cyril. He had the best smile, laugh and helped me to not take myself tsp seriously, he could make me laugh so hard! He was a good listener, made you feel heard,important and could always find the humour in everything. He was super to talk to and I am still in awe of the cereal he could throw back. Stacey had the most infectious laugh in the world - his glass was always half full and it made you a better person just to be in his presence.
