Obituary of Gordon Alvin Grover

May 15, 1936 – Hanna, Alberta

August 18, 2024 – Calgary, Alberta

Gordon Grover, beloved husband of Donna Mae (nee Hall) of Calgary, AB, passed away on Sunday, August 18, 2024, at the age of 88 years. He married his high-school sweetheart, and they recently celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary.

Gordon was born on May 15, 1936, in Hanna, AB, and grew up in Youngstown and Oyen. Even as a young lad, Gordon was industrious; he collected beer bottles, delivered groceries, and worked as a rodman for PFRA; anything to make money. Gordon spent 35 years in management positions in the oil and gas industry, which required moving the family to St. Paul, AB, Assiniboine, BC, Regina, SK, Winnipeg, MB, and Calgary, AB. 

Besides his loving wife, Donna, he is survived by his son, Brent (Monica) in Victoria, BC; daughters, Lorraine and Laura (Curtis) of Calgary, AB; grandchildren, Trinity, Derek and Janelle. He is also survived by his brother, Archie (Sandy), and brothers-in-law Clare and Fred. As well as Donna’s family, Lois, Len (Sally), Linda (Rick), and Don (Peggy). He will also be missed by his good friends Norm and Diane.

Gordon was predeceased by his parents, Glen and Hazel; his sisters, Thelma (Clare) and Margaret; his brother, Abner (Jean); his sister-in-law, Verlyn; and his brother-in-law, Louis. 

The family wishes to thank the staff at Sage Hill Retirement Residence and Foothills Medical Centre, Unit 71, for their care and compassion. 

Funeral Services will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Crowfoot, 82 Crowfoot Circle NW, Calgary, AB), on Friday, August 23, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home. Graveside Service will follow at the Omega Cemetery in Gadsby, AB.
