Obituary of Bonnie Anne Atkins

Bonnie Atkins of Calgary, AB, passed away on Monday, August 19, 2024, at the age of 72 years.

Bonnie graduated in 1973 from Nursing School. She spent many years caring for her patients as an LPN. She then changed roles in healthcare and spent many years as a Unit Clerk at Foothills Medical Centre Intensive Care Unit, until she retired.

During these working years, she bravely raised her three daughters as a single mom and played a huge role in raising all eight of her grandchildren. We all honour her strength, resilience, and selflessness.

Bonnie is survived by her three daughters, Robin Lee Mahon, Amy-Lynne Mahon (Perry), and Kendra Rae Mahon (Steve); sister Beverly (Gordon) Cranch; eight grandchildren, Nadine, Stephanie, Haley, Josephine, Joseph, William, Zenneth, and Rosie; her great-grandchildren; her most beloved great-granddogs, Norman and Olive; and her nieces and nephews, Philip, Colette, Heidi Desaulniers, Brian Cranch; and her cousins.

Special thank you to all of Mom’s friends at Cathedral Manor, who filled her last years with happiness, laughter, and love.

Bonnie was predeceased by her most precious mom, Rose Marie Atkins, sister Karen Desaulniers, brother-in-law Emile Desaulniers, and little brother Freddy Atkins.

Mom loved and cared for her family and friends dearly. Her smile, her warm hug, her kindness, and her unwavering generosity will be remembered. Her daughters will carry on her legacy. She will be deeply missed by all those she touched.

Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held for the family at a later date.
