Obituary of Loreen Gay Ormon

July 2, 1965 – Vulcan, Alberta

August 17, 2024 – Calgary, Alberta

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the untimely passing of Loreen Henrickson Ormon, beloved mother and friend. Loreen passed away in a motor vehicle accident in Calgary, AB, on Saturday, August 17, 2024, at the age of 59 years.

She is survived by her son Colton Orlando Ormon, daughter Chantal Rae Ormon, and three cats, Mocha, Coco, and Nikita.

Loreen was predeceased by her parents, Helene and Marvin Henrickson.

Born in Vulcan and raised on a farm located between there and Lomond, Loreen spent most of her adult life living in Calgary where she raised her two children, Chantal and Colton. During her childhood, Loreen went to school in Lomond before continuing her studies at the University of British Columbia as a Software Engineer. These studies led her to begin a career at the Credit Union, working her way up to Senior Analyst before ultimately retiring from her role with Alberta Health Services. Loreen was a kind, confident, determined, and fun-loving soul who did anything for her family and friends. Loreen loved the outdoors, always making time to go camping during the summer months. During her later years, she discovered a newfound passion for motorcycles that encapsulated nearly every moment of her spare time. Through them, she found a renewed sense of freedom, alongside a whole new world to explore.

Loreen enjoyed travelling, going camping, riding her motorcycle, painting, tending to her garden, caring for her cats and home, country music, golfing, and so much more.

Loreen will be remembered as a loving mother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend to all those who knew her.

A public Memorial Service will be held at the Vulcan Lodge Hall (231 Centre St, Vulcan, AB) on Tuesday, September 3, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. The family welcomes any who wish to attend. After the service, all are invited to stay for refreshments and sweets. Graveside Service to follow at the Vulcan Cemetery. 

Family and friends who are unable to attend in person are invited to join Loreen’s service streamed live (link to follow) on the day of the service. For those who are unable to view live, a recording of the service will be posted.
