Obituary of Sam Teske

Sam Teske of Calgary, AB, passed away on Thursday, August 22, 2024, at the age of 97 years.

Sam was born in Craigmyle, AB, on December 10, 1926. He lived on a farm with his three siblings and eventually moved to Calgary, completing Grade 11 while also helping with the family farm in Conrich. He then went on to build houses and do trucking jobs for friends.

Sam married Annis Dickau in November 1949, and they developed their own farm in the Dalroy area. His wife and three daughters helped in the creation of a successful two-section farm.

He joined and was an active member at Bethel Baptist Church and later, Grace Baptist Church.  He volunteered many hours at Camp Chestermere and churches, and always helped others wherever there was a need. Sam was an accomplished and respected farmer, yet humble in his ways.

Sam enjoyed his family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He was a skilled woodworker and made many projects. Later in life, he enjoyed golfing with friends and socializing at events with others.  

He will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, wisdom, and great sense of humour.

Sam is survived by his three daughters and two sons-in-law, Norene and Gerry Schroeder of SK, Lori Teske of BC, and Beverly Teske and Dave Hughes of BC. He is also survived by his five grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, as well as nieces, nephews, and friends.

He was predeceased by his wife Annis, his parents, and his brothers and sisters.

A Celebration of Sam’s Life will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Chapel of the Bells, 2720 Centre Street North, Calgary, AB) on Tuesday, August 27, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home.
