September 10, 1982 – Calgary, Alberta
August 24, 2024 – Calgary, Alberta
It is with great sorrow, that we announce the passing of our beautiful daughter who was taken to soon, Melissa Kraychy of Calgary, AB, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on Saturday, August 24, 2024, at the age of 41 years, after a battle with breast cancer.
She will be lovingly remembered by her mother Barbara, father Stephen, brother Colin (Dawn and family), her special niece Ember, as well as numerous family members and friends.
Melissa loved to live her life to the fullest and had endless love for her family, friends, and co-workers.
She was passionate about many hobbies, but her favourite was shopping for her niece Ember. She also enjoyed photography, capturing the beauty of the world through her images. Taking pictures of the Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis) was a highlight and a memorable moment.
Being outdoors and hiking formed an essential part of her life. The most well-trodden paths included Johnston Canyon and the Lake Louise Tea House path. Additionally, she enjoyed concerts, going to the movie theatre, and baking delicious cakes for her loved ones.
Her greatest passion in life, however, was to travel. Disneyland was always her first destination choice, with one of her goals being to travel to each Disneyland in the world. Fittingly, she could often be heard saying, “When is the next plane out?” In the true spirit of her love for Disney, Melissa was an avid collector of Disney dolls, snow globes, and other Disney memorabilia.
Melissa had a personality that was the perfect combination of being kind, generous, fun, and a little bit sassy. She would always make a day special for you, whether that would be a birthday, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, or a celebration of some kind, making sure that it was memorable and all about you. She would ensure that you felt cared for and loved, always going above and beyond.
She loved Christmas and everything it entailed. From the beautifully wrapped gifts to her delicious baking and festive treats, she took great pride in everything she did, making things beautiful inside and out.
Melissa was fiercely independent, never asking or wanting anything from others. If she ever desired something, she would make that happen all on her own.
A Celebration of Melissa’s extraordinary Life will be held at a later date.
