March 24, 1929 – Johor, Malaysia
August 29, 2024 – Calgary, Alberta
Chet Chen Loh, aged 95, passed away peacefully on August 29, 2024, in Calgary. Chet was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Chet Chen was the beloved wife of the late Pastor Cher Guan Chew. Together, they had one daughter, Adeline Chew, and a son-in-law Philip Chan. Chet was a devoted grandmother to her grandchildren, Timothy Chan and Tanya Chan, and great-grandmother to Owen Nguyen.
Chet Chen was a woman of faith in the Lord Jesus. She was also dedicated to have served as the wife of a minister for more than 40 years ministering at the church in Malaysia together with her late husband. In every church across Malaysia where they served, Chet Chen would make a garden of flowers for use on Sunday services. On their retirement, Chet Chen and her late husband immigrated to Canada in the year 2000 to live with her daughter Adeline and her family. She has an affectionate love for her grandchildren Timothy and Tanya and most recently her great-grandson Owen.
Chet Chen will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She was predeceased by her late husband Pastor Cher Guan Chew. She is survived by her daughter Adeline Chew, son-in-law Philip Chan, grandson Timothy Chan, granddaughter Tanya Chan, son-in-law John Nguyen, and great-grandson Owen Nguyen. Chet Chen is also survived by her two brothers, her two sisters, her brothers-in-law, her sisters-in-law, as well as numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends in Malaysia and Singapore. She will also be fondly remembered by Centre Street Church and New Life Evangelical Free Church, where she worshipped in Canada, and the many churches she served as a wife of a minister in Malaysia and Singapore.
The family would like to thank Chet Chen's family doctor, as well as the doctors and nurses at Peter Lougheed and Bow View Manor for their compassionate care. We are also grateful to the Pastors in Centre Street Church for officiating the funeral service, pallbearers and staff of McInnis and Holloway for all the funeral arrangements, as well as volunteers and everyone for your prayers, support and attendance.
In remembrance of Chet Chen, one of her favourite scripture verses was,
