Obituary of Anna Hindemith
April 12, 1935 - Petlovac, Baranja, Croatia
August 31, 2024 - Calgary, Alberta
Anna Hindemith (nee Hohmann), beloved wife of the late Karl-Heinz Hindemith, of Calgary, AB, passed away on Saturday, August 31, 2024, at the age of 89 years.
Anna was born in Petlovac, Baranja, Yugoslavia (now Croatia), on April 12, 1935. She immigrated to Germany in 1945. In 1954, Anna graduated with a Seamstress Diploma in Leonberg and sewed many of her own clothes.
She married Karl-Heinz Hindemith in Leonberg on February 9, 1957. Shortly after, they immigrated to Canada and became Canadian citizens in 1975.
Anna accomplished much throughout her life and was particularly proud of her family, her beautiful home that her husband Karl built for them, and her well-kept vegetable and flower garden. In her garden, she was most proud of her flowers; she definitely had a green thumb.
She was also an exceptional cook and baker, but her main hobby was painting. As an artist, she created several beautiful masterpieces in oil. These precious paintings now hang in her family’s homes.
Anna loved traveling back to Germany to spend time with her relatives.
She will be most remembered for her loving and outgoing personality. She was selfless, nurturing, and had a great sense of humor. She loved bringing her family together for special occasions and spending time with friends.
Anna is survived by her son Ron and his wife Saletta, and her daughter Andrea and her husband Andrew. She was also the proud grandmother to Marisa (husband Mitchell), Julianna (husband Stephen), Nicholas (Melanie), Mitchell (Katie), and Rosanna.
Anna was predeceased by her loving husband Karl-Heinz Hindemith, loving mother Barbara Hohmann, loving father Josef Hohmann, and brother Reinhold Hohmann.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Boniface German Catholic Church (1923 Broadview Road N.W., Calgary, AB) on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery (3219 – 4th Street NW, Calgary, AB).
