Obituary of Barry Lloyd McMillan
February 8, 1935 - Carberry, Manitoba
September 14, 2024 - Calgary, Alberta
Barry McMillan passed away on Saturday, September 14, 2024, at the age of 89 years from age-related issues. Barry was born on February 8, 1935, in Carberry, MB, and was a long-time resident of Calgary.
Barry had a successful career of 26 years with Baker Performance Chemicals, eventually becoming the Western Division Manager for Western USA and Canada. He was also a dedicated member of the Reform Party of Canada and the Responsible Firearms Owners of Alberta. Barry and his wife Morine were dedicated members of the Royal Canadian Legion #285 where they spent a lot of their time and effort on the Poppy campaigns. Barry enjoyed discussing politics, spending time at the Royal Canadian Legion, and collecting military memorabilia and models as he had a strong interest in military history. People who knew our dad (Barry) knew his big personality, great sense of humour, and that he was passionate about a wide range of interests and concerns. Barry was the type of person who when he saw an injustice would stand up and try to make a difference, to get positive change when others would not!
Barry was predeceased by his loving wife (Margaret) Morine McMillan of 62 years. He is survived by his children, Bradley, Sean, and Cindy. He will also be missed by his four grandchildren, Jessica Anderson, Chase O'Neill, Ryan, and Nolan McMillan; and his three great-grandchildren, Sianna Anderson, Ceili Anderson, and Scotlynn Anderson. He was also predeceased by his parents, Charles Malcolm McMillan and Dorothy Dyck; his brother Earl, and their loving sister Gayle.
Barry will be remembered for his dedication to serving his community and his great sense of humour. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
The family would like to thank all the Special Doctors, caregivers and pharmacists who bonded and became friends with Dad and gave him extra care in the years of his decline.
The family would also like to thank all those who have supported and helped Barry throughout his life.
