March 30, 1963 – Kipling, Saskatchewan
September 15, 2024 – Calgary, Alberta
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our loving father and friend, Bevin Gene Szakacs, on Sunday, September 15, 2024, at the age of 61 years.
Born on March 30, 1963, in Kipling, SK, Bevin brought joy, warmth, and compassion to everyone who knew him. He lived his life with dedicated patience and love for his family and friends, passing peacefully, surrounded by them in his final days.
Bevin was a devoted father and is survived by his two sons, Spenser (Deanne) Szakacs, and Jayden (Theodora) Wert-Szakacs. He shared many treasured years with their mother, Carol Wert, and was engaged to his loving fiancé, Nicola Foord, whose companionship brightened his days and brought him much happiness. Bevin is also survived by his older brother Clint (Marlene) Szakacs, and nieces and nephews, Robin, Kevin, and Adam (Jennifer) Szakacs.
He is predeceased by his eldest brother Gerry Szakacs, and parents, Jolanda and Fred Szakacs, who welcome him to rest back home in Kipling, SK.
In addition to his role as an incredibly patient, gentle, and unconditionally loving father, Bevin was a life-long entrepreneur, enjoying the rewards of his independence. He had a remarkable ability to find joy in the simple things and was eager to share these joys with those around him. He expressed gratitude for those who joined in his favourite hobbies including his years competing in a billiards league with some of his closest friends.
Bevin loved new experiences, with his adventures leading him anywhere from tournaments in Las Vegas, to getaways in Jamaica and Mexico. Wherever he went, he was sure to make many friends, fond memories, and lasting impressions along the way.
A Celebration of Bevin’s Life will be held at the Regal Beagle Macleod (180 94 Ave SE, Calgary, AB) on Saturday, October 19, 2024, at 6:00 p.m., where memories of laughter and community have been cultivated with him over so many years. We invite friends and family to join us as we remember the wonderful man he was.
