Obituary of Donald Stuart IRVINE

86 Wonderful Years We remember with love and celebrate the life of our dear Dad/Grampa who passed away peacefully at home on June 16th with our amazing Mom/Grama by his side. Born in Ottawa, raised in P.E.I, Dad left the Island to pursue a degree in Geology at the University of Oklahoma. Job opportunities brought him to Calgary where he met Marion, the love of his life. Some special times for Dad would include his polled Hereford cattle ranch in Millarville, heli skiing in the Bugaboos, salmon fishing at Campbell River, coaching hockey, winter getaways to Maui and Kauai, Govenor at the Oilmen’s, golfing vacations, California adventures, tennis and badminton at The Glencoe Club, parties at the Petroleum Club and spending time at the Calgary Golf and Country Club. But it was the family cabin on Lake Windermere that brought the family and friends together for many treasured memories for over 50 years that was his favorite. Dad enjoyed a successful and distinguished career in the oil and gas industry. He was the President of Texas Pacific Oil Company for Canada for over 35 years, later to start his own oil and gas companies. It was only ten years ago that he retired from what he loved, finding oil and gas. Don leaves behind his wife of sixty years, Marion and sister Joyce Andrews (George). He is survived by his children, Jim Irvine (Karen), Joanne Irvine (Vernon), Judy Gibbs (Nick), Jeff Irvine (Karen) and Grandchildren, Stephanie (Nelson), Kate, Natalie, Janelle (Austin), Andrew and Ted. Don will also be missed by his furry companions Sophie (dog) and Annie (cat). Dad/Grampa will be remembered by his kind soul, a true friend, and a man of great integrity. We will miss you so much, you are forever in our hearts and thanks for sharing a Great Life! Funeral Services will be held at Christ Church (3602-8 Street S.W. Calgary, AB), where they were married, on Wednesday, June 25, 2014 at 2:00 pm. If friends so desire memorial tributes may be made directly to Alzheimer Society of Calgary (201, 222 – 58 Avenue S.W.
