Condolences
To the Stroick family on behalf of 2 generations of the Hays family who have called Mike a friend know that your sense of loss is shared. He was one of the best that Calgary has produced, at work, at play, and as a key contributer to so much of what we value in our community. His legacy to this Railway Town is secure and will always be with us. Dan Hays
Dear Sharon, Ramona and Families,
We are so sorry to hear about your loss. What a wonderful man!! Over the many year that I was in business (Galleria) – it was always a highlight when your Mom and Dad came to the store. We always had fun with that wonderful couple. Your Dad would say “I hate this **##* store” and Mae would say” never mind Mike, just give me your Am.Ex card”. I have such warm memories of them both.
Your own wonderful memories of your parents will give you strength at this hard time They were always so proud of each of you. You brought them such joy!!
Our sincere sympathy,
Frank and Norma Oliva
Mike and the CPR! They went together.
My Dad, Buck Crump, admired him and enjoyed his company and shared love of the CPR.
Mike was a true railroad man.
Our whole family met him on special railroad occasions and he was always interested in their lives.

We are deeply saddened to hear of your dad’s passing. Mike was a great man and he will be missed by everyone.
Dear Sharon, Ramona & family
We were deeply saddened to read of your Dad’s passing. I go back over 35 years with Mike, at C.P. Rail. I especially enjoyed my time as a volunteer on the transportation committee at Heritage Park, which Mike chaired. Both Mike & your mom, Mae, were always so gracious, fun-loving & good to June & I. I am proud we always maintained our friendship, with Xmas cards, letters, & socializing through the years.
Mike was “Bigger than Life” & truly lived a full, loving & rewarding life.
With our deepest sympathy & most fond memories of your father,(Mike)
We will see you at the “Celebration of Mike’s Life” on Saturday.
Sincerely, Tommy & June Johnson

Always there when needed..A job well done
When I first started with CP Rail in the early 70’s, I remember Mike as my first “big” boss. Ever a commanding presence when he entered a room, he was a true original. Mike always seemed gruff to us new guys in the early years, but as time passed, many of us were fortunate to have him in our corner when times were tough. My deepest condolences to family and friends.
We have lost an extraordinary man, a CPR leader with a rubber rule book, stretched amazingly to get things done. A good friend who bailed us out of trouble on many occasions. alex price

I wish to extend my sincere condolences to Mike’s family. When I began my career with CP Rail I was told that one of the finest compliments that a railroader could receive was to be known as a “Gentleman”. Throughout that career I met many railroaders, but only a few “Gentlemen” and I’d like you to know that Mike was one of the finest Gentlemen I had the privilege of knowing. May you all live with the knowledge that Mike will rest in peace as he lived a good and honest life and is deserving of that peace. He will be missed.
Sharon, Ramona, Joe and Jarrett, I was so very sorry to read of your dad’s passing…from everything Sharon has told me over the years and from the lovely obituary, it is very clear what a wonderful and amazing man he was. I hope with time, all of your wonderful memories will bring a smile to your face and warm your hearts once again.
