Obituary of JOHNSTON – Estrellita Lovino

May, 1944 – December, 2010 Estrellita (Esther) Lovino Johnston of Strathmore, Alberta passed peaceful Tuesday, December 28, 2010 in Calgary at the Foothills Medical Centre. Esther was born and raised in Bohol, Philippines and graduated from South Western University, Cebu with a Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology and held a position as a Medical Lab Technician at the Bohol Provincial Hospital for six years before moving to Canada with her now late husband Donald Harley Johnston. She was one of eight children born to the late Isabelo and Leonor Lovino. Esther will forever be remembered by her devoted brothers, Isabelo Jr., Alfredo, Bartolome, and Allan Lovino; loving sisters, Terisita Quevedo, Lisa Batingal, and Nila Lovino; beloved children, Ron and Marlene, Doug and Jeanie, and Garry Johnston, Valerie McGarry, Theresa and Albert Leong, and Emma Johnston; treasured grandchildren, Darcy, Brett and Christy McGarry, Kelly, Dawn, and Kristen Johnston, Brooke and Mat Zadvorney and Samantha Leong; and beloved great grandchildren, Alexandra and Dennis McGarry, along with countless other friends and family whom were blessed to know her. Esther loved music, movies, laughing, being with her family, having fun with friends, Scrabble, celebrating Christmas and surprising others with her hidden talents. Esther touched the lives of many people with her smile, and generosity, and maintained her loving and selfless demeanour all the way to the end. Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S, Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Friday, January 7, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Catholic Church (1307 – 14th Street S.W.) on Saturday, January 8, 2011 at 11:00 a.m., with a reception to follow.
