Obituary of LEE – Edwin

April 17, 1919 – September 25, 2010 Edwin Lee, beloved husband of Viola (Babe) with whom he shared sixty-eight years of marriage, passed away on Saturday, September 25, 2010. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Viola; daughter Dianne McGrath (Bob); son Dennis; grandchildren, Leanne McKay (Ken), Dean McGrath (Lisa), Robin Lee, and Joel Lee (Carolyn); and great grandchildren, Kyle, Luke, Aleya, and Morgan. Ed was born in Assiniboia, Saskatchewan. From 1938 to 1940, he was a teacher in southern Saskatchewan. From 1941-45, he was a flight instructor in the RCAF at Yorkton, Winnipeg and Portage Le Prairie. On his discharge, in September 1945, he enrolled at the University of Saskatchewan and graduated in April 1949 with a B.Sc in Electrical Engineering and re-entered the RCAF. For the next few years he served at various bases in Ontario and Quebec. In 1964 he went to Great Falls, Montana as the Deputy Director of Communications and Electronics of the 28th Norad Division until his retirement in 1968. In 1968 he moved to Calgary and worked for the Calgary Board of Education for many years. Both Ed and Viola enjoyed a very social, active life and traveled quite extensively. Many thanks to the wonderful care he was given by Extendicare Cedar Villas, in particular, the nursing staff from Larkspur and Clover. A Celebration of Ed’s Life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S, Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Thursday, September 30, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
