Obituary of MAY – Minnie Min Violet

August 10, 1913 – September 15, 2010 On the 15th of September, Minnie “Min” Violet May moved to a special place with God after an adventurous 97 year life. Although she will be missed by her immediate family in England, Les Sirrett and Peter Crane and her Canadian family, Robina and Joe Mieszkalski, their sons and families, Ted (Ruth), Lauren and Claire, and Peter (Susan), Alex, Grace, Nelson and Jacob, we all know that she rests peacefully. She rejoins her parents, Ernest and Lily Rose, and her siblings, Annie, Queenie, Dorothy and Ernie, with whom she was very close, who have gone before her. Born in England in 1913, Minnie came to Canada in 1957 where she enjoyed a wonderful life. While she left London, she always carried her family close in her heart. A dear friend, a trusted companion and adopted grandmother, Minnie moved through life with vigour. Always racing full steam ahead, she had places to go, people to meet, and bingo games to win. An avid sports fan, she cheered on the Stampeders and the Flames; a prolific knitter, she created numerous sweaters, mittens and hats for her family and friends, many in the darkness of movie theatres; a world traveller that took her as far as the North Pole. Minnie was a selfless person who gave without limits. As her health began to fail, she received what she gave – the loving support of those around her. In that spirit, Minnie’s family offers its heartfelt gratitude to the special caregivers at the Beverly Care Centre, Glenmore for their devotion and respect for Min during her time with them. A Celebration of Min’s Life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Fish Creek Chapel (14441 Bannister Road S.E.) on Monday, September 20, 2010 at 2:30 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. In living memory of Min May, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Fish Creek Chapel, 14441 BANNISTER ROAD S.E. Telephone: (403) 256-9575.
