Obituary of LEWIS – Gary Walter

December 12, 1936 – September 14, 2010 With heavy hearts we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother after a courageous battle with prostate cancer. Gary was one of the few who was born in Calgary then moved to Lethbridge, Alberta with his parents Walter and Sadie (Sally) and sister Lorraine as a boy. He spent most of his childhood in Lethbridge, moving on to college in Modesto, California and eventually landing in Edmonton, Alberta to start his adult life. After a lengthy career in the telecommunications industry with AGT/Telus, Gary enjoyed his retirement years travelling and spending time with his dogs Heisman and Pattie. He enjoyed following the local professional and amateur sports scenes including football, hockey and baseball and ensuring he completed the crossword puzzle in the newspaper every morning. However, his largest love in life was spending quality time with his family encouraging his children through all their endeavors, demonstrating his enormous warmth to his grandchildren and always finding a way to make sure his wife knew he loved her deeply. Those left who felt his love and wisdom are wife Colleen, children Dan (Gladys), Corinne (John), Tom, Judy (Tom), Chris, Jeff (Dawn), Ryan (Shannon), eighteen grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren; and his sister Lorraine of Victoria. Gary was predeceased by his parents and son Bob. A celebration of life will be held Saturday, September 25 at 5:00pm at the Arbour Lake Community Center (1010 Arbour Lake Road NW). In lieu of flowers please make donations directly to Prostate Cancer Canada or via http://ca.movember.com/mospace/91255/. Our thanks to the doctors and staff of the Tom Baker and Unit 82 of the Rockyview Hospital. Please forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
