Obituary of OVERLAND – Oswald Lloyd

July 23, 1923 – September 13, 2010 Oswald Lloyd Overland passed away on Monday September 13, 2010 at the age of 87 years. Oswald was born on July 23, 1923 in Valpoy Manitoba. At the age of eighteen he joined the Royal Canadian Army and served four years over seas in the Royal Canadian Corps of Signals. On September 23, 1950 he married Shirley Ellen Taylor. Ossie as he was known by his friends and family was a Letter Carrier for thirty two years, a Cub Scout leader for 15 years and bowled with the Canada Post Bowling League for over twenty years. Through his retirement years he enjoyed the talents he had as an artist, Ossie was also a great lover of the outdoors. Ossie was predeceased by his wife of nearly sixty years March 18, 2010. He is survived by his children Sharon, Allan (Vivian) and Kathy. Seven grandchildren Denise (Ryan), Luke, Kimberley (Rick), Raymen, Angela, Shanon and Kyle; great grandchildren Trenton, Harper, Paityn and Dylan. The family of Ossie would like to sincerely thank the staff of Unit 29 at the Peter Lougheed Hospital for the compassion, care and kindness they showed to him and his family. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S, Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Monday, September 20, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery.
