Obituary of GOERTZ – Tiena

October 16, 1926 – August 12, 2010 Tiena Goertz, beloved wife of the late Jake Goertz of Calgary, passed away at Bethany Care Centre in Calgary on Thursday, August 12, 2010 at the age of 83. Tiena was born to Peter and Katharina Redekopp on October 16, 1926 in Altona, Manitoba. She was raised on a farm near Vauxhall, Alberta. In 1945, Tiena moved with her parents to Niagra-on-the-Lake, Ontario. In 1946 she married Jake Goertz in Virgil, Ontario. They settled in New Westminster, British Columbia, where they began to raise their family. In 1966 the family moved to Calgary. Tiena loved people and was quick to make friends. She was active with her church homes of Fairview Baptist Church and then Bethany Chapel. Tiena was always ready to lend a listening ear to others and this resulted in a wide network of faithful friends. Tiena was predeceased by her husband, Jake. She leaves behind Phil Goertz of Calgary, Ruth and Ray Keighley of Warman, SK, Julia and Dennis Neufeld of Kamloops, BC, Jim and Liz Goertz of Calgary, and David Goertz of Vancouver, BC; as well as thirteen grandchildren; twenty four great grandchildren; and two great, great grandchildren. We grieve the loss of a strong woman who left behind a pattern of motherly love, Christian faith and wisdom. Memorial Services will be held at Bethany Chapel (3333 Richardson Way S.W.) on Wednesday, August 18, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. Condolences may be forwarded through .
