Condolences
Belatedly, we have learned of your loss, Carol and family. We are saddened, too and our thoughts and prayers are sent to you. You will certainly miss him this Christmas! Warm regards from Dave and LL at illusions photographic.
I just recently heard of Doug’s passing. Doug has brokered our firm’s benefit plan for over 10 years. It was a pleasure to work with such a professional and kind man. I feel privileged to have known him over these years. We will miss him dearly. I would like to pass on my sincere condolences to his family. Your husband, father and brother was a true gentleman. I am so sorry for your loss.
Aunt Kathy & Ted and Cousin Christine and respective families:
I only recently found out about Doug’s passing. Our best thoughts go out to all of you and Carol & Ashley, Sally and her family. I am sure I met Doug when I was younger, but more recently met him again many years ago when we lived in Calgary. We can only offer our sincerest condolences and hope that the pain of loss eases with time.
Whether you were new to the group benefits business or experienced, Doug always had time to meet with you. Advice or simply good conversation, was yours for the asking. Doug was a true gentleman. I will miss him and so will our business.
I have known and worked with Doug for many years in my role in Group Retirement with Sun Life. I always smiled when I called Doug and got his voicemail – full of energy and enthusiasm, he was a genuinely nice man who clearly wanted to do the best for his clients. My sincere condolences to your family.
We are all very sad to hear of Doug’s passing. All of us from Human Solutions who worked with him on accounts appreciated his commitment to his customers but also the very kind, thoughtful and effective way in which he dealt with people and his business. We are all better for the fine example that he gave us and grateful for him.
It is so difficult to know what to say at a time like this to you Carol, Ashley, family and friends, but please know that our thoughts and prayers are with you.
Our sympathy goes out to all the family.
Doug and Diane Martin
I met Doug when I started working for Aetna in 1988. I worked in the small case market which was located on the same floor as Ted Smith’s group, prior to the formation of Woodman & Associates. Doug’s office was right across from my cubicle. That was the beginning of our working relationship and friendship.
Doug was present and shared in some of my “key” life moments. My husband and I were having dinner with Doug and Carol at their home, when we got the news that we closed on our first home. And Doug visited me in the hospital when my son was born.
Doug was a serious group producer and I worked closely with him on his cases throughout the years. When I left the industry, we remained in touch. I last saw him over coffee in March and last talked to him in May.
Doug was an amazing and unique person. His work ethics were the highest I’ve ever come across; he always placed the interests of his clients first. He was genuine and positive – I never heard him speak ill of anyone, ever. He worked hard and was successful, but he role modeled to the rest of us how important it was to balance out family, friends, community and participating in the joys of life. He had the recipe right on how to live life. If I could describe him in one word it would be gracious.
He was such a joy to know and I’m going to miss my friend. I am very sorry for your loss and that you have to go through the grief process. I know from my own experience that it can be long and exhausting. I wish you comfort and peace through you journey.
Sincerely.. Heather.
On behalf of Patti, Jack and Dorothy Rose, I want to send my deepest condolences to my family. We wish that we could have been in Calgary for the funeral to grieve with you all. Uncle Doug was very special to me, the wisdom and advise that he gave me over the years I will cherish for ever. My sympathies go out to Carol, Ashley, Nannie and the rest of my family.
Uncle Doug, you will be missed.

I wish I had the right words….
just know that I care..
I had the pleasure of doing business with Doug over the course of several years. He was indeed a gentleman and honorable person. My condolences to Doug’s family at this horrible time.
It is with great sadness that I learned of the passing of my dear friend Doug Adamson this week.
Living in Calgary in the early 80’s Doug was one of my closest friends and we had many great times together. He was kind, generous and always available to talk, share a story and have a few laughs.
Moving from Ottawa to Calgary I met Doug at the Calgary tennis club where we all knew him to be a “closet pro”.
Along with a group of friends we had many great times together over the nearly 8 yrs that I lived in Calgary.
What I loved about Doug was his wonderful love of life, his generosity and his positive outlook.
My sincere and deepest condolences to Carol, Ashley and the rest of Doug’s family. He will be dearly missed by all. Our thoughts are with you…
Sincerely,
Rebecca and Graeme Benn

To Sally and Doug’s family,
I am so very sorry to hear of the Doug’s sudden and tragic death. It is impossible to imagine the pain and sense of loss that you are left with in losing your brother, husband and father.
As a long ago friend in Ottawa, we spent many [sometimes very late!] nights in wonderful social gatherings with Doug at the table or in the kitchen. Those and simliar memories of a very good friend will live on in the circle of friends with whom Doug shared bits and pieces of his life. May you find comfort over the course of time with your memories of Doug. I will be with you in spirit on Thursday. Zita

To the Family of Doug,
Words seem inadequate to express the sadness we feel. Please know our thoughts are with you. Although it is difficult today to see beyond your sadness, may looking back in your memories help comfort you in the days ahead.
I have known Doug for almost thirty years since first moving to Calgary from Ottawa. He helped ease the transition to life in Calgary, and was one of the finest people I have ever met. I remember particularly helping Doug assemble a BBQ, it took us close to 5 hours, but was a darn fine bbq when we were finished. My sincere condolences to Doug’s family.
Doug was the bright light in Point McKay – he played golf with us and always had time to talk; We were supposed to get together and have that rum upon his return from holidays – at least we had many together; he will be dearly missed and our condolences go out to Carol, Ashley and the Adamson family.
Dear Sally and Robert,

I am so saddened to hear of Doug’s passing. I met Doug through my work with Sun Life Financial 6 years ago. He was one of the first brokers I had met in my new role and he made me feel very comfortable and he was always very genuine and nice. We met on numerous occasions thereafter and it was always a pleasure to see Doug. He was a wonderful broker to work with and more importantly a wonderful man to know. I am so sorry for your loss. I will always remember Doug very fondly.
I met Doug in the early ’80s when we where Ambassadors for the Calgary Chamber of Commerce. It was a great time for us as we were new Calgarians.
