Obituary of AIKEN– Robert Leon

March 19, 1930 – July 30, 2010 It is with sadness that the family of Bob Aiken announce his passing in Calgary, AB. Dad spent his childhood in Saskatchewan and for a time resided at the Indian Head Orange Home. His chosen career was in heavy-duty mechanics and he held positions on the DEW Line and with Finning Tractor before opening his own business at Tri-way Centre in 1970. Dad’s greatest passion was restoring classic cars and his most prized possession was his 1956 Studebaker Golden Hawk. Dad is survived by Ruth (Leichert), his loving wife of fifty seven years; his children, Kathy Coates (Paul), Stephen Aiken (Denise) and Jennifer DeLeon (Luis); as well as his siblings, June Huber, David Aiken, Shirley Oleski, Doug Aiken and Pat Aiken; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his beloved daughter Carol Lynn; his parents Richard and Leona; his brothers Ted, Gary and Harvey; and his Tante Lita. Dad will be fondly remember by many people in Vernon including his Car Club buddies, his friend and apprentice Rene Brunelle and the many friends who knew him from Triway.
